Peel the potatoes and cut into small cubes. Peel the pears as well, quarter them, remove the core and dice the slices as well.

Peel the ginger and grate finely.

Heat the butter in a medium frying pan. Sauté the potatoes, pears and ginger in it. Pour in the soup and simmer for twenty-five to thirty minutes with the lid on. Grind finely. Season the soup with salt and pepper.

Whip the cream until stiff. Serve the soup in plates or cups. Put a dollop of cream on each and garnish with a little cress or thyme leaves.
