A simple but delicious cake recipe:

1 tbsp. Mahlep (powder from stone sour cherries, i.e. wild cherries, irschen, in trk. Trk. Rk. Stores) 1 1 liter of boiling hot water.

This little sweet pastry is offered mainly during the Muslim Kandil holidays, hence the name. Crumble the yeast and mix it into the lukewarm water. Put the flour and yeast water in a large enough bowl and prepare in detail. Knead in the melted salt, butter, honey and the mahlep. Cover and let rise for 3/4 hour at room temperature. Divide the dough into 20 on-the-spot pieces and roll into sausages. Using a skimmer, dip each cookie individually into the boiling water for 1/2 minute, then roll in the egg yolk first and then in the sesame seeds. Turn on the oven to 175 degrees Celsius and bake the cookies in about half an hour until crispy brown.
