Cut the rolls into thin slices. Grease a baking dish. Peel and finely dice the onions. Foam the butter in a frying pan and cook the onions and bacon in it at low temperature for 3 minutes until translucent. Pour half of the mixture into the baking dish. Place the bread slices on top like a roof tile. Mix the eggs with the whipped cream, season heartily with salt, cayenne pepper and mace and pour over the slices. Spread the remaining ham and onion mixture evenly over the top, stand for 10 min. Bake at 225 °C for 15 min. until golden brown.
